Cette deuxième édition contient en fait 105 illustrations, dont chacune est commentée par une note que j’ai rédigée à l’attention des collectionneurs du Paris d’AKAGI. Certains m’ont dit que ce recueil pouvait constituer un très bon guide sur Paris, mais mon idée n’est pas du tout de faire un guide ! Je conçois ce recueil davantage comme les mémoires d’un Japonais à Paris en 2014, retracées sous forme de 100 vues de la capitale. La traduction peut être en anglais ou en français, mais je souhaite que l’original en japonais figure en dessous.</p> This book contains my special selection of 100 views of Paris in lithography. The selection was made by myself from my completed works and may therefore be regarded as my specially edited private collection. I have almost 500 original drawings of Paris after my 40 years of work. The 100 prints I selected for this book were taken from over 100 prints of those 500 drawings. I did not print them especially for this book like Hiroshige’s “100 famous views of Edo” or Hokusai’s “100 famous views of Mount Fuji” so the title of this book may not be appropriate perhaps. This book is rather like a series of notes stating why I printed these particular views. Il a été construit entre 1475 et 1519. Son style est un mélange du gothique fin Moyen Âge et de début Renaissance. C’était la résidence de l’archevêque de Sens, la plus importante autorité catholique de France à l’époque. C’est pour cette raison que le bâtiment est également appelé Hôtel des archevêques de Sens. Jusqu’au milieu du 17e siècle, l’église de la ville de Sens, située à 116 kilomètres au sud de Paris, était la plus importante de cette région. C’était le siège épiscopal des villes de Chartes, Paris et Orléans. On dit que Marguerite de Valois - jouée par Isabelle Adjani dans la Reine Margot, film adapté du roman d’Alexandre Dumas - a vécu dans cet hôtel particulier durant 9 mois lorsqu’elle avait 52 ans. Its construction lasted from 1475 to 1519 and two styles - the Gothic style of the Late Middle Ages and the beginning of Renaissance - are mixed. Because it was the residence of Archbishop of Sens, the highest office of the Catholic Church in France, it is also called the Palace of the Archbishop of Sens. Until the middle of the 17th century, the church in the town of Sens, situated 106 kilometres south from Paris, was higher in rank and the church dominated Paris, Chartres, and even Orléans.Being the protagonist of the 1994 film “La Reine Margot” which was based on Alexandre Dumas’s historical novel, in which Isabelle Adjani played the leading role, Marguerite de Valois is said to have lived in this residence for 9 months in 1605 when she was 52.
